Long Sesh

I am terrible at blogging.

This will essentially be my first post since graduation and the first one of the summer, which is pretty sad. A lot has happened this summer, and it's been a good one to say the least. I went to Vegas in early July. I broke even in the cash games but ended up chopping 7 ways in a $120 Caesar's tourney for ~$2100, which was nice. I really wish I would have made a post immediately following that tourney as there were a lot of cool hands and spots that came up that I would like to not forget.

I have continued working out at the golf course and it has been a good time. I started working in the pro shop, which is nice for the simple fact that I can watch TV for 8 hours and get paid for it. That job will be ending soon, and I am now halfheartedly looking for a job starting in November.

I took the LSAT's 2.5 weeks ago after studying for them for over 3 weeks. I don't think I did great on them and am waiting to hear back about the results, which should come next weekend. The plan is to attend law school (who knows where) next fall.

As far as the poker side of things, since Vegas not much has happened. I am up a small amount of money and have not put in as many hands as I would have liked. I am going to try and get back in the swing of things when the weather starts to get crappy, and there aren't too many things to do outside.

That being said, I did just put in a healthy session of 1500 hands where I ended up losing a whopping $8. I feel like I played okay but got coolered in two big spots:

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4790421 - not much to say here. Didn't want to flat p/f and see a flop three handed oop, so I squeezed. Either way, the hand plays itself.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4790449
- similar spot, was lucky not to go completely broke.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4790454 - This guy was playing tight at 14/9. Not sure if I can fold the turn, as this guy had seen me show down a few bluffs and I probably had a loose image. Additionally, I think a fd is a decently large part of his range. I think my river bet is just waaaaaay too thin in retrospect. He could be c/calling an 8 as well.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4790461 - The more I think about this hand, the more I am liking my fold. This guy is 20/4 through 50 hands. I think my flop check is fine, as I hate getting c/r'd on this wet of flop when I think it hits a ton of his limp/calling range, especially given that he is only 100 bb's deep. My only issue with the river is that I am pretty vulnerable to a bluff raise because I can hardly ever have a flush the way that I played it. Oh well.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?4790482 - This was a fun one, but I'm still not too sure what I think of my play. My turn raise is definitely as a bluff even though I have a good amount of equity vs. his range. I am in a really shitty position if he ships turn even though I don't think that he can ship it in too often unless he just gets real stubborn with an over pair. The reason I didn't continue on the river is that he called my raise so quickly on the turn that I just had a bad feeling about getting looked up on the river.

There weren't a whole lot of big ones, so I was extremely happy to break even in this session. I was happy to bounce back after getting coolered for 2 full BI's early in the sesh and not winning too many huge pots. I am hoping to continue playing a decent amount like I said and am happy about the way that I'm playing right now.

I have also been degen sports betting quite a bit lately, which is always a ton of fun. For those concerned, I only bet what I can afford and know that it is a leak of mine blah blah blah but I get enjoyment from it, so Derek and I put some money on Bodog and not have fun sweats every day!

We have done well in NFL but not so well in CFB and MLB. We are up a small amount of money and have USF +3, as well as under 49 in that game and then the Phils and the over tonight. GL us!

God Bless all,

JG
