Update

As usual, it's been a while since I last posted. I would like to get in the habit of posting a couple of times a week, but I actually have been without a computer for about three weeks as my laptop has been in the shop. I will be getting that this weekend and am pretty excited about it. There is something about not having something that makes you take it for granted, blah, blah, blah. But really, I haven't had much time to play much online poker and will be able to do so this weekend.

So the last time that I posted was probably over two months ago. Since then, I made a trip up to Canada to RiverRock Casino in Richland, B.C. My very good friends Nate, Derek, Grant, and I made the trip one weekend, intending on staying there for two nights in what was a very luxurious hotel. It turned out to be a very profitable trip, as I played for about 23 hours over 3 sessions with a profit of $1,500. Take away $100 for hotel expenses, about $100 on drinks/food, and $100 for a tournament on Saturday which I busted in, and my total profit was around $1,200. The others didn't fair very well, but I ran incredibly well, only playing $1-$2 NL. The biggest pot that I had won before this trip was about a $450 in a 4/8 game on a 8/16 kill pot in which I rivered a 2-outer. On this trip, I raked in a $500 AIPF with KK against QQ on a final board of J10497. My heartbeat must have been like 150 bpm when he turned an open-ender. The next large pot that I won was on the final day when I was stuck almost $300. There was a maniac in the game who dumped $2,500 in the $1-$2 NL game in less than 2 hours which was incredible. He was blind-raising to $75. I decided to put all my chips in against him with A5hh, but his 33 held. I had just won a pretty sizable pot against him with KK, and was only stuck about $120. I then look down at KK again. I raise, and, to my delight, the fairly loose player to my left announces re-raise. It mucked around to the maniac, and he cold-calls the $30 re-raise. It mucked back around to me, and I made it $100 even, leaving myself about $175 behind. Both players called, and we took the flop of 10-10-9. I obviously knew that the player to my left wasn't capable of a 10, and wasn't going to give the other player a chance to draw out with KQ or KJ. I was first to act and hesitated before moving all-in. The player to my left called, and the other guy thought about it for literally 2 minutes before dumping J6!!!!! I jumped out of my chair when my opponent asked if I had KK. I clapped my hands as he rolled over QQ. I faded the 2-outer and raked in the largest pot of my life: over $600. Needless to say I am itching to get back up there and am trying to clear my schedule perhaps this Saturday night to make a trip.

I have also been doing pretty well playing live, up around $1000 in the past month. My bankroll is increasing and every day that summer approaches, I get more and more ancy. I hope to be working 2-3 days a week at a golf course, play golf during the days, and play poker at night.

I have been continually mulling with myself inside my head just thinking about the possibilities of me playing poker semi-professionally or even professionally. As of right now, I have no intentions of doing so. Poker is one of my big interests right now, and it's nice because I have become pretty successful at it and can make a pretty big profit at it. Whether or not I could do that at a higher limit is another story. After I graduate, if I have larger than a $25,000 bankroll, I may consider taking a few months or even a year off to see what I can do. This is a long way off, and my $4,000 bankroll needs to grow before any of this could happen. These are just my thoughts.

Well I am working the front desk here in Nash Hall right now, and it's time to start sorting mail.

God bless,

JG
