Long Time No Blog
I haven't blogged in a while, and I thought that I would update this thing for all of my loyal reader(s) (thanks Pete).
I just played in the $7.5k guaranteed on UB and managed to run my stack up to 8k at 75/150 when I managed to run KK into KK and AA, the AA being the only player at my table who had me covered. Autobust but incredibly frustrating.
While I haven't played very many MTT's as of late due to my dabbing in 4-tabling $50NL with some success, I haven't had any success. I don't remember FT'ing a tourney all summer when I was playing a lot and probably haven't FT'd anything in about 4-5 months which is absolutely incredible. I can't even fathom this, as it seemed as though a year ago, it was a FT every 2 or 3 days.
I am really starting to question how I had so much success in MTT's before this summer. Did I just run way above EV for a year? I'm not convinced. I used to have a cruise control level where I was never questioning any part of my game and felt as though I was always making correct, +EV decisions. I just don't have that right now. I have been watching some Poker X Factor videos but nothing has been breakthrough. I watched all of PearlJammed's 2nd place finish in the Sunday Million and learned some pretty cool concepts but nothing that blew my mind away. I have been wanting to do a leakfinder sesh with a couple of my good online friends, but haven't had the chance. I really think the only thing that I'm lacking is a larger sample size.
The very few MTT's that I play, I tend to question myself when I go bust even in unavoidable situations. The other day, I had 88 unopened on the button at 75/150 with 2400 chips and had already open mucked a button. I made it 400, and the BB moved. I knew I had to call, believing I owned his range, and he showed KQ, and I lost. If I had won this hand, I never would have been questioning the play even though it was +EV obv.
I don't really know what to do right now. On my $50NL run, I made 8 BI's in my first session and have basically broken even since then. It seemed so easy in the beginning but then I was just not able to have very much success, probably playing too agro in those limp-fest games.
My bank account is low, and I really can't go another month without withdrawing at least $500 from my UB acct. I really wanted to run my acct. up but just either haven't had the time or, oh ya, haven't had a big score in FOREVER!
It is so frustrating, but I may have to start looking for a p/t job soon. I didn't really want to, but, unless I can really get down and dirty into this whole grinding thing or can find some sort of success in MTT's soon, I may have no other choice.
Oh ya, school started, and it's okay. Four 4-credit classes with 3 ECON classes. My worst class is history of Latin America which I have to take. BLAH!
My friends and I are starting a flag football team which I am super pumped about. We went out and played some 3 on 3 today and it was a blast.
I have been working out pretty consistently during the week but then ofc, I cannot maintain this through the weekend :/ 2 steps fwd, 1 step back ain't too bad I guess.
That's all I got. Hopefully I can manage to run good one time this month.
God Bless,
JG
